Master Ding and is family live a hard working and serene life on the slope of a hill outside Longchang city. I was kindly entertained by his wife and daughter when I visited in November 2024. Their production is very diverse: utilitarian vessels, cooking pots, storage jars for Baijiu, and tea ware. The materials are very natural, clay is dug just uphill, above the Dragon Kiln, water flows from the mountain spontaneously, and wood ash is added to the clay mix. That is why you can find some yellowish sprinkles resembling glaze on the vessels.
They are an adorable family with great work ethics and we support them sincerely. Master Ding is City Inheritor of Longchang Earthenware and is a great example of a potter who lives for his art and its continuous legacy.
